So, I have an S2 (not any of mine) and it's really doing some wierd stuff.

One, is a picture out of the camera, does it with any size TIFF, any size/quality JPG and in RAW. The second is what I took a picture of (the fuji PDF showing how to reset functions). Everything was reset to factory, different CF cards were tried, different lenses.... Everything looks cool inside the box as well.

Any ideas? Camera is just out of warranty of course.

Horrible isn't it.
I don't know what it is of course but from observation the streaks on the image can only have been made by movement of the image on the sensor. The sensor could not have made the image look like this. My best guess is that there is something seriously wrong with the movements of the two mirrors when the picture is being taken, ie. the mirrors are still moving when the shutter opens.
How does that sound?

Mine look the same and is now fixed. If you look at the image I posted under S2 on life support, you can see some images were still there but the CCD just gone crazy? I tried to reset as per the manual. Did't work. I tried to change batteries, lenses, Did't work. Only solution was going back to FUJI. Good luck.

Sorry but I don't think they look the same at all but no doubt Fuji will find out. The pictures in the other thread do look like a sensor/electronics problem.

It looks to me like a dodgy contact ( or contacts ) inside - looks very much like smearing caused by bad frequency response caused by resistive contact...

Have you tried giving it a good whack ( suggest a slap with the palm of your hand on the bottom plate - remove any lens first ) - a temporary fix only of course if it works... and it can't get much worse ;)

Keith. :)

When a mirror problem was put out there, that made me think. I pulled the camera back out and I noticed that when I'm looking through the viewfinder, there's some wierd flicker in there when the picture is exposed. I don't seen anything wrong with the mirror mechenism when I fire the camera without a lens, just watching it that is, however, it seems that the curtain in the back seemed to operate a little strange. But, that's going by my eye and it happens so quick, who knows what I'm seeing. But I know the viewfinder looks funny when I shoot though.

I've also, like was said, given it a couple of whacks and that does seem to change things, but usually only so that the frame is totally black or totally smeared like the sample above. So, makes me want to say it's not the CCD per say, but some connections, some broken and some intermittent. Some have to be broken completely as I'm not getting much color at all, if any.

I'm going to have my friend send it in for an estimate next week.

Nothing yet. Don't even know if the friend mailed it back there yet. He's kinda a spaced out in the head kinda guy. I will be posting when it does get fixed.
