...and general Scottish Highlands.

I've just returned from a week's holiday touring round in my new car (http://www.theswampbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9135).
I had a lot of fun, and took a few pictures that I'm quite pleased with. Ardnamurchan is a peninsula on the West coast whose tip is the most Westerly point on mainland Britain. It boasts a number of wonderful beaches, lots of sheep, and terribly twisty single-track roads.

You may notice that one of the pictures seems to show a small boat in a large cave - this is deep underground in a sand mine. It might seem like an odd thing to dig for, but this is very beautiful, high-grade silica sand, used for making electronic and optical things (I think).

Comments quite welcome. :)

Eddie.

and why not, who doesn't appreciate a rare Scotch on the rocks :D maybe one day I'll get there. Nice series Eddie, I like your panoramic crops, the boat with the light shaft and birds plus the last rocks are exceptional :righton:

ditto Tom and serge, a nice series. I especially like the last one for its mood and texture and the vibrant blue boat shot against the rocks.

Thanks very much guys.
This is pretty much my first attempt at landscapes - I don't have the patience to get really good at that sort of thing though!
I'm quite pleased with the way they turned out (the boat/birds shot and the last shot are very much my favourites too), especially as the pictures are just side-effects of a relaxing week away from the city. :)

Thanks again,

Eddie.

Hey Eddie,

I was talking to our canteen lady at lunchtime, and she had returned from a trip to Scotland recently, as she used to teach highland dancing, and is wanting to get back into it. Anyway yadda yadda, I tell her how Scotland seems flavour of the month, and next thing she is enlightening me about a 'Whisky Trail" which can be taken, following the boutique distilleries throughout the highlands :beerchug:
Hmmm, me thinks, something to ponder for down the track, so many picture possibilities

Oh ... I really do like the third image ...Eddie .... Lovely use of shadow and light to emphasise the scale of th ehill which you were looking at. Coupled with the flow of the hill down to the sea shore, and the hint of sea smoothly coming in from the left it creates a peaceful shot which I appreciate.

Thanks for sharing your trip.

Incidentally, I stay not to far from a Whiskey distillery and in the summer months the smell of the hops doesnt half make me gag ... a smell I just cant stand. Dont know how I run a bar for 10 years to be honest ... lol

Thanks again

Steve

Thanks again

No - thank you!

Personally, I find that the smell of whisky in any form makes me gag.

Serge - you should listen to your dinner lady and come round to this side of the world for a nice break. :)
