This may sound dumb. But, I have a Newton camera bracket. This bracket was adapted by Bob Newton himself for the S2. The problem that I've found, is that if you are using the AC adapter, you cannot flip to vertical with the cord plugged in. If there is a right angle adapter for the plug that goes into the camera, I think we'd be in great shape. Anyone know if such an animal is available?

There are right-angle connectors available. However you'll need to cut off the existing connector and solder on a new one.
This is only recommened for those with good soldering skills.
I'd also recommend that you use some heat-shrink tubing over the connector body to act as a strain relief.

You can order #171-3221 described as a DC Power plug. 1.7mm X 4.0 mm $1.18 (quantity one) from Mouser Electronics 1-800-346-6873.
The last time I ordered from them they didn't have a minimum order.

Instead of cutting the existing plug off the cable you now use you might consider constructing a short extension cable using the above connector combined with #163-0311, a cable mount jack, into/on to which the existing plug on your present supply could be plugged. Quantity 1 is $1.63
