2cr5.co.uk (http://www.2cr5.co.uk) is selling NiMH batteries, charger and an optional auto adapter. I haven't heard anything good or bad about either the batteries, charger or company, but it might be worth a try. I'm still on my first set of lithium batteries and have no idea how long they will last.

good to hear that!
my first set lasted over 900 shots
people has tested and say that one can shoot without 123's with no problem, i'm not willing to try unless no choice
better check those rechargables

After hoping for a better source of rechargeable CR123's I decided to take a chance and order some.
I ordered a charger with two batteries, two spare batteries and a car cord.
I received an acknowlegement of my order. I waited and waited.
I finally sent an email inquiry about the order status.
No reply within good time frame. (two weeks or so)
I sent another inquiry. This time I got a reply saying that they had delays getting materials and they had been using part time help who hadn't followed up. I was advised that the order would ship. I was told that when the package arrived I could refuse it and it would be returned.
Then my credit card had a charge of $129.00 US. (pretty high for the "savings" of not buying non-rechargeable CR123's.)
Two weeks or so later the package did arrive and I did refuse it.
I keep hoping someone will come out with a decent product with specification regarding current rating which these people do not supply.
I'd recommend that you find something other than those UK folks as an alternative to CR123's

I think this is a false economy. If you were paying as much as $3 per cell you could have bought at least 20 pairs of CR123s, or enough for perhaps 20,000 exposures for the same money. Instead you have more equipment to maintain.
The self-discharge rates of NiMh is rather high, and the Alkaline or Lithium disposables is rather low.
"Alkaline batteries stored at "room temperature" self discharge at a rate of less than two percent per year"
NiMH and NiCd batteries self discharge at a MUCH faster rate than alkaline batteries. In fact, at "room temperature" (20 degrees C) NiMH and NiCD batteries will self discharge a few percent PER DAY." ***
So unless you plan to recharge those babies maybe twice a week, you are probably better off with very long-lasting, disposable cells in the focusing circuit.
Regards,
Matt

I tend to be an "experimenting" sort. I learn by doing.
I waited a long time before give the UK folks a shot at proving their product.
I was expecting the product to fail but I wasn't expecting crappy customer service in the bargain.
The main purpose of my post was to discourage others from buying from those (people)
I'll stick with other sources.
You might want to take a look at CR123's at http://www.allelectronics.com
I bought 12 to test @ $2.60 each.

This has to be the best deal I've seen at $1.50 per battery. These are Toshiba cr123's:
