Love this camera, however last night the firewire stopped working - the camera shows connection, but its not picked up on the PC. I've tried several cables, 3 computers and its the same in all of them. Phone technical support (UK) and they told me that I should send it to them. They have no ability to give or rent out a loan camera. I reckon that this is pretty poor since they are marketing this as a pro camera and have no ability to give pro backup service.
I knew I needed a second body anyway, but I would still not be too happy booked for a fortnight with wedding and portraits and one of my bodies dying on me and going away for a week/fortnight.
Just thought I'd share my experience of UK support with you.

I don't know if this helps or not, but I have seen the similar problem on my notebook. It does not pick up the camera if I connect the camera after I boot my notebook. I have to have the camera connected to my notebook first before I boot my notebook. In fact, if I unplug the firewire cable from my notebook after using the camera for a while, it does not recognize my camera again. I then have to reboot to get my camera recognized by my notebook.
By the way, I have only tested my camera w/ XP. I am not sure if this is a problem w/ XP or my camera.

I've done more testing on my desktop PC. No problems found!
I can connect and disconnect as many times as I want and the software picks up the camera every time.

I guess my Firewire card on my notebook is faulty..

My camera has never worked on the Firewire. Part of the problem (according to the rep) is that my laptop does not have a built-in Firewire port. I tried using a Firewire card in the PCMCIA slot and it did not work. When I double-clicked the camera shooting software after I connected the camera, I get "Camera not found" message. Please help.

I got sick of my firewire pcmcia card(CompUSA version) not working correctly w/ my S2 pro. So, I got another firewire card(SIIG version) and it works every time.
