Guess what? - I have never used a wet method to clean the CCD.
Most times I just use the blower brush (having made sure static environment is good).
If I get stubborn spots I use lens tissue (without any additives etc); fold the sheet in half then half again - then tear in half. This gives a very soft and grit free cleaning media.
Then I breath gently on the ccd surface to give a thin coat of moisture and rub gently with the tissue.
I take many wedding photo's and specs on ccd ruin wedding dresses - this method works for me. :D
