Ok, I switched to Mac like a month ago, and got my S2 today. My mac is a imac G4. I loaded the software that came with the camera(in classic mode), but when I connect the camera via USB port to it, the FinePix Viewer does not automatically open. At first the iPicture was opening though. The book says the driver does not run in OS X classic..what? I am using an ibm microdrive as my storage media. I have the camera set to USB download, and the media type set at CF type II. The microdrive folder icon does appear automatically on the screen though. I was able to download my pictures to iPictures, but am completly unable to figure out how to get them into Finepix or the adobe photoshop that came with the camera. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appretiated.

PW,
I'm also using OS X with the S2 software. In order to use the RAW files, you must install CONVERTER LE and/or EX in OS 9 or earlier. If you recently acquired your iMac, you probably don't have OS 9, and your machine may not accept it. This is the result of a little Apple arrogance. You can install FinePixViewer in OS X, but won't have access to either RAW file conversion. Fuji is supposedly working on making all the software OS X compatible, but it hasn't happened yet. The only thing you miss with OS X is the RAW file conversion, and Photoshop has a plug-in to bridge the gap. I don't like the Fuji software and don't use it.
FinePixViewer will not run in OS X Classic (a make-believe OS 9 environment). Seems Classic works great with a lot of stuff as long as there's no importing of data into your machine.
If you've installed FinePixViewer, you should have a program icon available. If it's not on your desktop, go into Applications and move it onto your Dock. If the program doesn't open automatically when you download your data, click the icon on your Dock and you should be up and running. Since you're not going to be able to convert raw data right away, consider a card reader rather than downloading directly from your camera.

You have no idea how much you have helped me. More than anything you put my mind at ease that I wasn't the one doing something wrong. I have it all working now, except I was wondering if you or anyone else could help me by telling me what this plug-in for photoshop is? Where do I get it, and what is it called? Thanks AGAIN!!

Hello PW,
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html
This is the link to get the plug in and learn all about it. There is a downloadable manual at this link that will fill you in on all it does. I've been using it for about 6 weeks and been very happy with the speed and ease of use converting the .raf (RAW) images and the flexibility it gives.
Hope this helps!
Take care,
