I have the opportunity to buy a mint condition 22" Cinema display for $900. It comes with a DVI converter so I can use it with my PC. Is this a good deal? I've got a 21" Samsung panel now so I don't really need it but it looks cool :). What are people general opionion of this display?
Thanks,
Steve

I think it sounds like a decent deal, especially if it is in good shape. ALL Apple Cinema displays have a good reputation, and are known for their sharpness, color, contrast, and eveness of illumination. Still, I would see if you could knock off a hundred or two. New 20" displays are $1299.
I don't recall ever hearing of a 22" display. I know of 15", 17" 20, 23" and 30" displays.
Apple currently sells the 20", 23" and 30" displays on their website and are blowing out their remaining 17" old style Studio Displays. [ 17" = $699, 20" = $1299, 23" = $1999, 30" = $3299 (plus you need to buy a special video card for the 30". ]
I have two 17" Studio Displays (LCD) and like them. I don't have them calibrated color-wise. I just use them to hold palettes, and have my main, color-critical work displayed on calibrated LaCie monitors.
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT BUY A 21" APPLE STUDIO DISPLAY (CRT). It is a 77 lb. blue and white, egg shaped, unreliable, unfixable, money-pit. They have a horrible reputation.
Apple no longer sells stand-alone CRT monitors. The only CRT monitor they have is built into the eMac, and is a very nice screen.

We've got three of the 22" Cinema Displays here. They're about 3~3 1/2 years old. They've probably been discontinued for different size preferences. I know we had a heck of a time getting a decent picture on a PC on one of these, but the drivers just weren't capable back then. We actually had nVidia write us a special version driver for a GeForce 2 Ultra to drive the monitor. It worked ok. For it's time, it was a great monitor. They all reside on MAC's now. One sits in one of my boss's office hooked to a MAC and is used only for a 24/7 slideshow machine. SICK. Haha.
Cool might be a nice thing for this deal, but 900 bucks for a 3 year old + LCD. I'd think a little on it myself.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to pass on this. My Samsung does 1600x1200 and it looks like the Apple will only do 1600x1024 so I'm actually loosing desktop. When I first started looking at it, I got my specs mixed up and thought it was 1950x1200 which was why it was tempting me. My check book just breathed a sigh of relief.

has the 1920 x1200.
The LATEST 23" (metal bezel) has a regular DVI connector too, so it's PC friendly. It's also supposed to have a better picture than the ADC 23" it replaced. In case you go all out!
How about that 30"??
