In the old days of film, many cameras had film plane indicators on their body. This was to indicate the plane of focus and was often used particularly with non-slr cameras for measuring and manually adjusting the lens focus for close-up photography. On a CCD camera this mark too indicates the plane of focus for visible light (non-infrared) images. It is there for you to use or ignore.

The mark in question can be found on the top of the camera below the bottom left corner of the top LCD.

It resembles a circle with a horizontal line running through the center.

Unless your into scientific or technical photography then the focal plane indicator is of little importance. If photographing technical images (damaged engineering components for example) it can be used to determine scale when shooting images.
