Yesterday I have received my sigma 105mm F2.8 EX lens. Because I still like macros I wanted to buy a Tamron, but there was no chance to get one at ebay. Tamron itself only sells the 180, so I had have to find something else.

So I tried the Sigma one.

First results:
- Very loud focussing-motor, but excellent focussing performance.
- A huge focus-ring which helps a lot with manual focus
- The usual +0.5 overexposure from the Sigmas which have to be compensated

First shot shows a "Liard" from 1655. Upper left corner shows a 100% crop.
No USM or any other post-editing was done.

More pictures to follow

Hi Wilm,

nice shots, I have the Nikkor 105mm 2.8 AFD.

Maybe we should both photograph say a coca cola can to see how the colours etc stands up, I think your Sigma looks spot on.

So if you have an S2 that under exposes by 1/2 stop and a Sigma that over exposes by 1/2 stop... Do you get perfect results every time...?

Hi Steve,
exposure really depends on the object. Sometimes I have to go - 0.5 EV, but usually +-0 is ok with that lens.

A can of coca-cola would be a nice idea, even I don't have a can here :o

I'll try to post some other shots later on ( maybe fruits everybody knows )

Good macros Wilm, but I think the shots are pretty oversaturated. Especially the bee/wasp (Wespe?).
Have you shot on HIGH color setting?

Thanks Igor !

I think the oversaturation is coming from that lens when shooting in color-high-mode. I have desaturated that picture, the original one was more extreme. I'll spend some time for that lens this weekend and post other results.

BTW: My spiders have left their usual places, I have to chase them again :D
