Just received this new "simplified" SB-800 flash.
Briefly tested with D70, S2 and SLR/n, works fine with all, though should play all its "bells and whistles" with D70 only.

A quich snap :

Is that your 50-500mm in the background, with lens hood off, and the case for the SB-600?

As mentioned elsewhere I got the Sb-800, and looove it. Much improved over the SB-28 (non DX).

Cheers, just thought I put a comment in

Hi Tony, wrong guess :)
It's Nikon 200mm/4 Micro lens with its hood detached.

Ahhh! No cigar for me then!

I played around with my SB-800 and put some note into the Nikon Forum http://theswampbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8103

I managed to get the unit to fire remotely after some angst. Still feeling like it is Christams with both the Sigma and SB800. But there are not nearly enough hours in the day, especially with 2 kids under 2!

BTW, the skin colour on (????) your son looks very natural and detailed.

Cheers

Tony, you're right . Nikon manuals aren't very clear, especially on flashes.
Your "little tutorial" should be very helpful, as the "groups" and "channels" are terms not very "intuitive" to amateurs like me.

The skin tones are reproduced extremely well with the SLR/n I shot this frame with. It's my son Bogdan :)
