Check out the Digital IR and Cross Processing section on www.digitalphotographers.net There is quite a bit of discussion on the filter, settings and techniques. The suggestions by Gary Fong are excellent. I have seen them in use at one of his seminars and tried them myself, with excellent results.

Dan.

BTW, as of this morning the discussion forum server connection is down, but his main page is up and has the status for the forums.

Check this link out. It's not related to the S2, but it has some cool IR info. It was posted in 1998 so it has some old school flavor.

Also for any infrared lovers this is the page to bookmark.

I have the tiffen 87 filter. Love it. Exposure ...1600 spd, 1/45th, 2.8..make sure your in black and white mode... A wide angle is really slick.... :-)

I have been shooting digital infrared on my S2 since I got it last July. Works beautifully. I use a 88A filter which for all intents and purposes is opaque. I focus first, put the filter on, set my exposure and fire away. Check out one of my images here.

Exposure is pretty long which is how I got the trees to be blurred. This one was at f13 and 20 seconds at ASA 100. I shoot RAW. When they come in they have a red cast to them. Just convert to B&W after that.

The BEST place to buy these filters is from Harrison & Harrison in California.

Enjoy,

I shot this one last summer and really screwed up because I wasn't shooting in RAW and I had sharpening turned on, on the S2. I had an order for a huge one of these and spent a huge number of hours dealing with the sharpening issue.

Thanks Mystie. Glad you were inspired by them. The gas station I used a 20 with and the gazeebo in park shot I used a 24-85. Probably shot it at about 70mm.

Enjoy,
bob

Bob

I absolutely reconize your last pic from WV. Whenever I travel out to DE from KS, I stop there. My favorite thing (other than the springs) is the couches in the movie theatre that all the kids sit on.

PS

Loved the pics
