..does that answer your question ?

Sorry Serge!
Really glad my wife wouldn't allow anything like that on our walls - too twee.
I'm sure the original photos would look great though....

Oh, sorry Jean-Pierre, that's really difficult to explain to a French speaker!
Best I can get from my big dictionary is "maniérée, un peut cucul". My wife's English explanation of the word included "fairy tale" and "too perfect". Hope this helps....
Cheers, Robin

Hi Robin ! I LOVED the "un peu cucul" thing ! ...this is typically coloquial french !!! Congrats !!! (could it also mean kind of "goody-goody" ?)
...yes, I admit that -for me- the "swans" don't have the "good taste artsy" look that the Annecy's pic that Serge had played with... For me, it looks a bit like the kind o "do it yourself" "half ready made" tapestry that old people are busy doing in the "maisons de retraites"...
But well... my wife hasn't got such a good taste after all, as she has chosen to get married with me  :troutsmac

I really like that effect; I guess that makes me "twee", too!

no need for your wife to apologise for her "twee" taste
or anyone else for their tastes or comments, as long as they're honest,
Robin, your mother in law is welcome to try these :D
