I have seen some dealers claiming a 2 year warranty on Microdrives. I have it direct from Hitachi, who now owns the Microdrive product line that:
1. The warranty is one year.
2. I was told by a reputable dealer that the warranty starts the day the Microdrive comes off the assembly line, not when you buy it. So you could end up with a microdrive that has anywhere from a year to zero days of warranty. Dealers cannot return them for warranty replacement it must be done by the end user.
3. They do not repair defective microdrives when they are out of warranty.
Bye Bye Microdrive
