I don't know weter i am imagining it, but when you view an imagein photoshop, it looks softer than when viewed in for example Hyperutility veiwer.
The zoom level in photoshop makes a difference and unless on 100% it looks soft. This must cause problems when applying sharpening.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Hi Paul ! I didn't notice the images beiing softer in PS than in other viewers (except in Pbase, because it got a rather strong compression algorythm), but maybe this is why everybody recommands setting the zoom at 100% when applying USM ?!? :p

Your probably right. I guess its the method they use to reduce the on screen image.
I'll do mysharpening at 100% from now on..

that does make sense. Just don't forget to check the whole pict after sharpening. I've had evergreens become over-sharpened while I was looking at the main subject in the shot.. Since our files are SO big, I wind up looking at 1/9 of the pict at a time at 100%.
Funny how you can forget about the rest of the shot sometimes!

a lot depends on your monitor resolution, balance and calibration. Everyones is different.
