First I would like to say hello to everyone, I just became a member this morning, I am so happy to be part of this forum.
I am in the process of finalizing my very intecipated purchase of my S2, I have pretty much everything figure out except for the ex converter that comes as an opition. I haven't heard great things about it but I want to be able to pilot my camera from my computer and convert rax files!!! I have a G4 and am wonderring if everyting will run smootly. I read about Qimage, bibble and I would like to know if to make things easy at first if I should just get ex converter and get confortable with it
Can anyone help me:)

Unless I am missing something, the EX converter will not function with OSX and requires that you operate in classic mode.
You may want to check out the Adobe raw converter that is a plugin to PS7. This would allow you to use OSX
I haven't any practical experience with a G4 as I am still running a G3 powerbook and OS9.2. However I am looking at upgrading soon and have been looking into the plugin route instead of using Classic mode (OS9) on the G4 with the EX converter. The EX converter works ok but my feeling is that the plugin would be better.
Anyone out there using the Adobe plugin?

I hadn't noticed it before, but this thread does discuss the adobe plugin.

I shoot my S2 in RAW mode almost exclusively. I am using the Fuji Converter EX on a G4 desktop machine in OS 9.2 and it works like a dream. It may, or may not be the absolute best/fastest around, but I've had no problems and no complaints. Certainly other solutions are out there, but postings here and at DP Review indicate that each has its pros and cons.
If the EX is compatible with your operating system, that's the road I would take.

Thank you both for your precious information. You have put my mind at ease for now. I will buy the ex converter and play around until I feel that I need something faster. While I have you on the subject did you try the pilot mode with the ex software...you can shot from you pc. If so could I have some feedback that would be great.
Thanks again for answering my questions so fast!

It works just fine in my case, although I haven't used it that much - I don't have much reason to do so.
