poor focus with wide angles

have tried shooting s2 with tokina 17/3.5 and tamron 24-135/3.5-5.6.

at wide end almost all pictures were out of focus with flash on.

at 135 end. everything is pin sharp?

why? can anyonw help?

My first reaction to this problem would be to confirm the focus points. That is to make sure that the camera is focusing where you would like it too. I found that with wideangle I had to use the confirmation light in the viewfinder more than I had expected too, because I couldn't see out of focus that well with the camera's focusing screen. You should also confirm where the focus point is set on the five point focus system. My nose can hit the command dial and change that while I shoot, so I usually lock the dial.

That being said, you may have a problem with the camera, do you have any pictures we could look at?
