Dealing with two S2s

How do you keep from duplicating filenames when using two S2s?

I'm getting another S2 for a backup and plan on alternating the bodies so that one doesn't go "bad" without me knowing it. In that respect, I know sooner or later both bodies are going to catch up with each other if I use continuous numbers. I've thought of perhaps changing the volume numbers, but I haven't figured that out yet...

How do y'all with two S2 deal with this???

Hi Ken

I use a 20gig mindstor drive (made by the now defunct Minds@Work) to download my CF cards, and from there copy them to my computer. The Mindstor drive creates a new folder for each card download.

I use iView http://www.iview-multimedia.com/ to organize these images - you can batch rename files to either a different serial numbering scheme, add a camera body designation, job number, whatever.

If you are concerned with losing track of which folder of images came from each body, simply create a small printed card that says "S2 A Body ser. # xxxx" on one side, and "S2 B Body ser. # xxxx" on the other. At the beginning of every card shoot the appropriate card and your in business.

you can also create new forder names in your s2. normaly the inner folder is named like fuji 101 etc, atleast when i use microdrive. once i lend my body to a friend and he used hes cards earlier used in d1. so when i got my s2 body back all my forders where like "fuji 143" and file names just something else than what it was before. so what, but i like to keep track how many pictures i have taken and i was sad. then i changed folder name and last shot like they were before lending body and changed in s2 from continous counting to the other counting numbering and got everything back as it was. then i changed setting back to continous file counting.
like this you could create atleast individual folder for your new body.
