View Full Version : S2 shutter lag

When I am shooting in the studio, I normally have everything on manual; manual focus; manual exposure for flash, etc. I have two S-2's. On both cameras, frequently the camera won't fire.

I'll press the button to take the shot and press and press and press until it finally does. I never know when this is going to happen.

Looking thru the viewfinder, it appears that the focus button (the little dot on the left) keeps lighting and dimming, as if to suggest it is trying to autofocus.

Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,

I've had 2 S2 Pros and both have exhibited this tendency every now and again.

Have you found any reasoning to this. What makes it happen?

I don't know what causes it. You press the shutter button and it doesn't want to fire, then all of a sudden it does. I don't know if the camera might be going into a 'sleep mode' or something similar.

I got it fixed today. I called Fuji (second time) and got the RIGHT techie. Here's the problem. I was shooting in auto white balance. Every forum said that was good!

The techie said no do. Auto wb is too broad. He had me do a custom white balance and leave that set. Worked perfect every time.

I'm going to try it tomorrow on the other camera with the bad serial number, which I am sending back tomorrow.

The closest I have had to annoying shutter lag is when I tried to shoot action shots (Formula One race) with an IBM MicroDrive. When the car in question came to my favorite position on the track, I would push the shutter, and the camera wouldn't do anything. It seems the MicroDrive was spinning down between laps, and would take a second to spin up to speed before it would allow an exposure. After I figured out what was happening, I got the drive up to speed before the Ferraris came into view.

When I shoot in the studio using strobes, I use the SUNNY white balance.

Guys...
If youwant shoot quick...go to Custom setting #12 for auto power
off...set 0...depend on what kind of lens (focal length...S...lens...
and AF mode ) decise you can release r.away...
Tom you can set multi frame with C @ AF shoot 1rst then check focus later...you can hit 7 shots @0.5 sec and use Compact flash
or smart media...do not use Microdrive....
since you press release button it's take 50- 100 millisecond to actual release.
