You can try a recovery program like http://www.lc-tech.com/PHOTORECOVERY.htm
I always reformat my cards after I've downoaded the files and backed them up. After reformatting try shhotong again. It's best to copy camera files to a hard drive and then open them up in a image editing program. It's best not to open the camera files from a card or the camera through an application(like photoshop).

Make sure you don't write to, or change any files on the card while they are in the computer. Don't do work directly on files while they are on the card. Don't have any anti-virus [or other programs] write files to your card when they mount on your computer.
Any changes to the card's files, types of files, file sizes, number of files, etc. o is asking for trouble when you put the card back in your camera. I let the camera do all the writing and formatting, and the computer only reads the card.
I usually reformat the card every time I put the card back in the camera.
Maybe somebody would say that I am incorrect to be so uptight about it, but it is a rule I stick to. I have NEVER had a formatting / no read problem with my cards (1G MicroDrive & 512 Lexar currently, and previously owned 4, 8, 16, 32 & 64mb cards.) I've probably shot 10,000 images without a formatting problem since 1998.
I shouldn't have said that. Knock on wood.
