Hi all, I just got my spanking brand new S2Pro. Being new to digital, I'm having some difficulties on whether those processing labs will be able to print photos to 4R size(just like film). I shot the photos at 6.1MP and wondering should I or should I not resize these photos so as to make it possible for the Lab to print 4R size phtos. I'll be using Adobe Photoshop 6 if there's a need to resize the photos of which the ratio I'm not sure off. Anyone can help? Thank you.

I do all my printing at home. However I have in the past taken in digital images for a custom print job. I did crop the images myself instead of leaving it up to the lab. Most labs have resolution and sizing standards they use, so I would ask the lab and find out all the details prior to prepping your images.

my worries are that the lab won't be doing a good job of cropping the photos just to make it 4R size....

If it's a pro lab then there shouldn't be an issue. You could always have them print a "test" and see how the results are. Any lab I have dealt with has reprinted anything I disliked as long as I was clear what the final print should look like from the beginning.

Well, Pro lab here dun always give pro quality prints to non-pro photog...its like double standard thingy....if they know u are a pro, then you have nothing to worry about, but if just an occasional shooter, then only luck can have it....*sigh*

If the labs in the area don't work, there is always the internet.

I have used the lab listed below with decent results.

Also there are tons of labs listed if you run a search like below.

Good luck.

This was a pleasent surprise when I got to Photoshop with my first couple of picture from my S2. With the other digital cameras I've owned, I always had to resize and crop my pictures. Seemed like they were all sized in computer monitor sizes instead of photo sizes. They always used the top part of the picture when they croped. That wasn't always the part that I wanted. With my S2 pictures, when I put in 6inches in the horizontal, the vertical goes right to 4inches. :)

This amounts to the S2 being more 'wide screen' than most digital cameras, I think. Am I thinking correctly here? S2 is 6.17mp. If croped to computer horizontal to vertical ratio, what mp it would end up being?

What size is '4R'?
