I am now in need to update my printer as I have changed my Mac from an old power pc with scsi interface to a powerbook G3 with usb 1 and firewire and can't use my old epson stylus pro 600 printer.
What I would like is an inkjet printer that can print up to A3+ and also cd/dvd printing. I am not looking to get perfect photo quality prints but somewhere near.
What do you all use or suggest?

What a lost opportunity! - as you were changing OS anyway you could have bought a useful computer (otherwise known as a PC) ;) , learnt to use XP in 10 minutes and bought a SCSI card to run your old printer. :)
Sounds like you'll need to buy another Epson if you want the CD printing but do some web research on any potential driver problems for the Mac - printer manufacturers don't usually get Mac drivers right first time....
Cheers, Robin
p.s. I'm sure other Mac users on the forum will soon give you less sarcastic and accurate replies :)

Thanks for that Robin,
I was tempted to get a PC but one thing stopped me. The software! I have all Mac software Photoshop CS, Quark Xpress, Indesign, Illustrator etc. etc. and to replace the lot would not be worth it.
Macs are now becoming more like PCs as they now use Linux as a base language.
One PC question though is if Macs are so bad why is windows trying to look more like a Mac? ;)

All depends which side of the computing world you're looking at it from - I thought Macs were trying to be more like PC's!
Take your point about the software investment but ultimately software is more varied, cheaper & easier to obtain for the PC.
Just to let you know I'm not a slave to Microsoft - I still lament the sad demise of BeOS, did anyone here use it? (did most of Windows XP tricks years before).
Cheers, Robin

don't know if it's worth it, but you can probably get something to run a scsi anything on that new Powerbook. Check out xlr8yourmac.com .

I don't know much about Macs but can't you add a SCSI card (PCMCIA)to it and use your old printer? I had an Adaptec card I used in a laptop a while back but I don't know if it had Mac support. If not, I'd go to your local computer store and look at all the new printers out there. If your not worried about print life, there are many dye based printers out there to choose from. If archival prints are a priority, you'll need an Epson. I've got the 2200 and love it but it doesn't print on CD's.
