Does anyone of you know about the ability of laminating prints made by the new Xerox Phaser 8400?
I've heard that solid ink technology is not suitable for that purpose, as cold lamination has a strange reaction with the chemistry of the inks.
I'm planning to use this printer for posters and postcards in small quantities as I'll live in a small village away from city centers.

We use a solid ink Xerox at work, and I know from personal use that using hot laminators does not work. The heat causes horrible bleeding of the ink.

We have a local photocopying shop we have tried, they use a both hot and cold. The cold works, but as you have noted, the "glue" does not take long to react with the inks. We find for promotional stuff, we get a few days before the inks start to bleed or more acurately, smudge under the glue.

Not recommended to laminate from Solid Ink technology printers, which is rather annoying, because the inks are prone to scratching and heat.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Thanks Tony
You reply was very informative, it helped a lot. I'm not going to buy this printer as laminating is very important to me.
I'll try to find another solution.
