I started having problems with my S2 back in mid January. The camera would act as if it was working, although no images were written to the media and the camera would turn itself off. I only had problems when using batteries. So, I replaced the batteries and the camera worked fine for a few days. Then the problem returned. I replaced the batteries, there was no change and then I went out of town leaving my camera at home.
When I returned, about two weeks ago, I took the camera and tested the batteries and my ac adapter. The batteries are very strong and the adapter works fine.
I shipped my camera to regular ground shipping because I live in NJ. The package arrived Thursday the 27th. It was signed for at 1035 AM. Friday (28th) evening, noone at Fuji could confirm that the camera had been received because, "We are still unpacking boxes from last week." I was asked to wait and check back Monday. I was also told that because I did not ship "Overnight", the package was not "prioritized" at Fuji.
So, if you need to return your camera to Fuji for problems, please send it "overnight" and save yourself some time.

Today, Allen told me that if you want your warrantied item prioritized, you must overnight your package with Fedex.
So, at this point Fuji is still opening packages from the 26th of February. I was told that they have at least 200 more boxes to open from the 26th. My box was signed for at 1035 am on the 27th.
I'll try them back later tonight since they are open until 8pm eastern.

I am about to get upset.
Michelle, at Fujifilm told me that overnighted packages with Fedex do NOT receive anymore prioroty treatment than a package dropped off at the front door. She also said that it can take up to seven BUSINESS days in order for a package to be received, opened, entered into the computer and registered for the phone reps. to see that item in their computer. "Call back Wednesday or Thursday", she said.
"I'll call you back tomorrow to see how many different stories I can get from one company.", I said.

I just got a new S2!! I called and complained about track noise, sharpness, and they sent me a new one. I was also on the recall list.
It took a couple days longer than they said it would, which I am not happy about. However I am pleased to have a new camera, and so far the problems seem to be fixed.
It also seems that they changed the battery tray to a more flimsy example.

Last night I called Fuji again. The camera STILL has not been located in their system. I spoke with Allen (sp?) who seems to be the most helpful of the reps I've spoken to. He actually (it seemed) got up from his desk and looked around the area he was in and checked the boxes to see if my camera was around. It wasn't.
I just got off of the phone with Jerry? and he said that the camera has just been entered into repair today. So after nearly a week with my camera in their office, someone located it.
Oh, my camera is NOT one of the cameras listed in the recall.
Jeff, I hope that my camera is not returned with a more flimsy battery tray. The battery tray was flimsy enough. I am scared everytime I replace batteries that the tabs will break off as I insert the batteries.
"Cover me. I'm going in for repair!"

Has Fuji come up with a fix for your problem?

WOW!
I completely neglected this thread.
Fuji returned my camera Friday of last week and according to the repair sheet; "NTF". No Trouble Found.
So, I immediately reattached lens, strap, and inserted the new batteries I purchased. SAME PROBLEM! The camera works great with my battery pack, but lousy with the batteries I purchased from my local electronics store. It seems that I have had bad luck with battery purchases. The batteries test fine, but are "just short of a full load".
Here in NJ, at this time of year, taking a camera outside is a true test of battery life. I'll continue using my battery pack with this camera instead of buying more batteries. That why I bought the pack years ago!
So, if indeed there was no problem, I need to heed the words of other users and make SURE that my batteries are good.
I did get a free ($15.00 shipping charge) CCD cleaning!
!GET GOOD BATTERIES!
