Just saw this on a Korean web site. Wonder if it is true?

Looks like a poorly rendered retouch job to me, but if it's true sign me up.

Tim
February 23rd, 2003, 05:23 PM
but the consensus on another forum was that it was not true. I forget which forum now- I have looked at several today.

But I bet this is bogus. It is causing a stir on the DPReview forum.

I, for one, could do without the weight of the F5 in a DSLR. I hope it's a hoax.

There are some dipsticks over there. This is a 1:1 ripoff of the F5 image on the nikon site, badly retouched.

But if someone figures out how to get silkscreen to stick to the textured rubber grip, give me a call.

Oh, by the way, what do you do with that manual film rewind lever on a digicam?... and what's that hinge for along the left-hand side?

Regards,

Matt

I don't think Nikon will sell F5 for Fuji produce S3 also Fuji can't
afford too:p
If we lucky enough to have F100...:D

He had a friend the could read the Korean site review it and he said that the picture was a joke that was followed up with people giving testimony about how it fooled them. Gary also called Fuji and was told that to the best of their knowledge it did not exist and was a fake.

It is still fun to dream, and pull a few legs at the same time.

By the way it showed 10 inches in Wichita, Kansas yesterday and it is really playing heck with my white balance. I am really talking about the balance I have on the slippery white snow when I walk to my truck.

The above prototype camera caught my eye(s). I couldn't resist sharing with you an image and information I received attached to a TOP SECRET email named "FOUR YOUR EYES ONLY." I don't know who generated this misinformation, but whoever it is might have their butt in a sling when this gets out!

Some of the technical highlights for the Nikon Quadcon Q-20/20 (as reported to me):

The Nikon Quadcon Q-20/20 shoots interpolated 64 MegaPixel CMYK images at 5 frames per second, or non-interpolated 12 MegaPixel RGB images at 20 frames per second. Images are stored simultaneously or consecutively on four 2GB CF cards in the user's choice of 4 different methods, including RAID options. Dual built-in speedlights with long duration flashes for sync speeds up to 1/2000 shutter speed, with a normal sync speed of 1/500 using the welded PC terminal. A built-in, swiveling, user-replaceable 6" LCD back allows easy Preview, View, Review modes and minor Photoshop corrections via 4 configurable thumbpads. In several modes, any of the lenses can be set for live viewing on the LCD. Live Preview can even see 4 seconds into the future to aid in capturing critical moments like sports or gambling.

The 4-eye (HOORAY!) High-Eyepoint Viewfinders each show through-the-lens viewing at 100%. The "Focal-Length Lens Factor" can be adjusted from 4.0x to 1.0x via sensor masks to reduce the effective sensor size. (Old fashioned digital cameras usually had 1.5x factors).

Sharpening, Tone, Color, Light Balance, Fog Effect, Posterization, Sepia & Toning, Levels, Curves, EXIF, Pixel Volume, Pixel Matrix, JPG, GIF, TIF, RAW, Medium, Well-Done, and Tenderizer, as well as 128 other CSM functions can be configured on the QWERTY keypad (protected by a Spandex flap).

4L-4C-3D Color/UV/IR Matrix Metering is handled by an Intel processor comparing 64,000 image section light values to a stack of Bill Gates' family photos stored in the internal Corbis Photo Vault Memory Bank (a small licensing fee is accrued for every light meter operation).

Different focal length lenses can be mounted and used concurrently as desired, saving valuable space in you camera bag for more batteries. You may never have to change lenses again!

3D imaging is a simple matter when the resulting images are processed in Nikon QuadView3D 1.0b software. The camera can accept several types of power sources including (32) AA NiMH, (8) D Ni-Cd, (1) Delco Lead-Acid, (1) Lightweight-H Mobil/GM Fuel Cell, universal AC power, 12v DC power, or Nikon MW-R (recharges in microwave oven (neckstrap removal suggested).

The new sensor arrays are 4-color + UV/IR Tandy X6 self-cleaning "Wavelength Sponges(tm)." The self-cleaning mechanisms are comb-like pegs that project from the backside between the pixels and lift debris off the surface (like a dog brush). Rather than a grid or honeycomb pattern, the sensors are arranged in a random pattern, much like the pores of a sponge, or the resolution-independent particles in an Etch-A-Sketch®.

It accepts all Nikkor lenses, although with larger diameter lenses, a new special Nikkor BS-44 Lens Spreader attachment is required. The new ZM-14 Zoom Synchronizer handles situations where the photographer wants any 2, 3, or 4 zoom lenses set to the same focal length. Internal Software in the ZM-14 can even synchronize different model zoom lenses via sensor comparison. Combo Lens Shades are available, call your distributor to find the right model for your combination of lenses.

Film can be shot with the attachment of a Nikon F-100 to the top accessory hot shoes using a Nikon QF-41. Synchronizing the film attachment with the Nikon Quadcon Q-20/20 requires a Nikon QF-75 cable and the Nikon NS-75 Neck Strap Extension.

Macro 3D techniques require the BS-20 Parallax Configurerer and a special Photoshop Plug-In which will be available late 2015. Depth of Field (DOF) can be extended through DOF Bracketing to simulate the equivalent of ƒ128 with no loss of sharpness due to diffraction at small apertures.

An underwater housing is available with domes for 4 Nikkor 14mm ƒ2.8 lenses (requires BS-44).

An optional QB-4444 DataBack has the ability to prescreen halftone images for direct-to-press CMYK printing in commercial applications with a built-in RIP. The QB-4444 also has GPS, Palm PDA, Cell Phone, Wireless Modem, Cable TV, Holographic LCD image preview, view and review. Wireless interfaces allow direct uploading of images to online user-definable websites templates. Intercepting other Nikon Quadcom Q-20/20 cameras' images via wireless is possible - and encouraged!

Other details are still being documented, and new drawing are being made for the 24 volume instruction book set. (Instructions to be provided in Japanese only).

I am sure I missed a few details as I decoded this manually from hexidecimal, and needless to say, this is probably just a rumor.

You wouldn't want to ever pick it up to use it.

Fuji and Apple are combining forces to create a Quadcon Q-20/20 varient. The i20/20 will allow wireless web hosting, for unhindered access by the users of the world wide web to surf your images AS YOU TAKE THEM. Simple AppleScripts will handle image processing and sorting into dynamic web pages WHILE YOU SHOOT. The i20/20 will run on a version of MacOS XX (double jaguar).

I have requested visual PROOF that a camera is really a real thing. I should be able to acquire an image in a few days, and will dedicate a thread to it.

Tom, were you taunted as being a "four eyes" in grade school?

Quadcon, LOL! You should post it over at the Nikonians site as the next great thing coming at PMA...

Like I say:

I did a double-take every time they did.
When I wore glasses, it was worse.
Now it takes 40 minutes to put in contacts.
You should see my sunglasses.
I close one eye and the color balance changes.
You should see me wink my eyes - counterclockwise.
I can wear bifocal bifocals.
My eyes are calibrated to SWOP standards.
Those 3-D movies with the red and green glasses make me sick.
For my driver's license, I passed the eye exam -twice.
I can see thru the S2 viewfinder and watch the LCD at the same time.
I see a color gamut smaller than a person with RGB eyes.
My nickname was C. Myk.
Thankfully, I never have to wear mascara.

There is hope. A totally blind photographer started a photo club here in Payson. It didn't last long. You have probably seen his work many times on photo.net.

You're all wrong.

Here's the prototype S3. Fuji is sacrificing features for durability. It is built to last 50 years.

Does it do 3D photos too? Or maybe 4D?

As for that photo of the *S3*......Do you think Nikon would really let them keep F5 on a Fuji camera???? I don't think soooooo........

I don't think Nikon would ever let Fuji use the F5 for their next DSLR... but if they let them use the F100, well, I would be one very happy camper (I miss my old F100 sometimes).

Wait and see, I guess...

We don't even know for sure that it was a PS job or not. It could have been some off brand photo editing software. By the way the site is the Korean equivalent of "The Onion" according to a friend of Gary Fong. :D
