A week ago, I purchased my S2 on eBay from Galaxy Photo (auction 2911300971 ). I paid $2084 for the camera, a three year Mack extended warranty, a set of 1600 mAh NiMH batteries with charger, and FedEx shipping.

I already have three sets of better batteries and a Maha charger, but I can use the bonus batteries elsewhere.

I called and paid Thursday and received the package Monday. Galaxy Photo is in Ottowa, I think. I live on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound.

Camera is Canada warranty. I understand that Fuji in USA honors this warranty. Even if not, Fuji has a warranty station in Richmond, B.C., which is less than 100 miles from me.

This seems to be a good time to buy an S2, as it appears that dealers have recently received substantial supplies.

I also just got my S2 from Galaxy Photo.

$2105.00 with the 3year warranty 1800nimh and charger to my door next day!

The owner at Galaxy seems to be a nice guy! It's not like dealing with Broadway or Cameratopia etc..

2nd day FedEx was only $35.00 and for $20.00 extra it's next day! Not the well we charge 6-8% of the purchase price from the guys in NY, and that's a ground price not overnight.

Galaxy has good reviews in the dpreview Fuji forum also.

Look on eBay for Fuji S2 Pro then give him
a call!

When I bought my S2 via eBay from a Canadian distributor, it came without the AC-adapter (very recommended for cleaning the sensor) and without the Fuji HyperUtility Software which includes the RAW File Coverter EX.

This all happened last August. At that time, getting an official Fuji AC Power supply cost over $300 from US Fuji distributors, but only about $70 from Canadian distributors.

Did you get the AC Adapter & full load of software with your Canadian camera packages?

Tom,

Can't tell who you are asking about the power supply.

My unit did not come with one. I don't see that to be much of a problem. I should be getting a package of 50 1800 nimh AA batteries today and have a bunch as it is.

I don't think I could even find an outlet in my office with routers, printers, subwoofer and all that other stuff that needs to be plugged in.

Well, I wasn't really asking anyone specifically. In my experience, none of the cameras coming from Canada have the AD Adapter. I was rhetorically pointing out to all the readers, members, lurkers, that are interested in the Non-USA camera packages, specifically the Canadian Package (North American Package).

You will find that you need an AC Adapter, and you should get it before you need it.

Eventually, you will get dust on your camera's sensor. It may take 1000s of images (doubt it), or it could take just 250 exposures, before you start noticing soft grayish blobs on your images. The blobs are microscopic particles on the sensor that do not remove themselves. Dust is attracted to the sensor by its electrical charge. Normal internal dust, airborne dust, small lens mount residue, pollen, etc. will get on your sensor despite any precaution you take - even if you NEVER change the lens.

To clean the sensor, you have to remove the camera's CR123s and power the camera with the AC Adapter. There is a button combination to push and the mirror will lift and the shutter will open, allowing access to the sensor surface. When you do this, the mechanics of the camera are active, but the sensor is not - which eliminates the electrical charge that attracts dust. If you rely on battery power for a long exposure time, you would only have a few seconds, the sensor would be charged and attracting more dust, and you risk having the mirror and shutter close on your fingers or cleaning tools. It can take several minutes to clean the sensor.

The reason you have to remove the CR123s is because when the AC Adapter is plugged in, it effectively discharges (shorts?) the CR123s and severely limits their life.

Search these forums for threads regarding the Non-USA camera packages, cleaning the sensor, and cheap sources for buying CR123s (like 20 batts for $30). I think there are some threads regarding using non-Fuji AC Adapters which may work (or may ruin your camera!). Look around! Search back to last summer - it's all here!

I've had to clean my sensor already and just used the batterys without any issues.

So, using any external power source shorts the CR123s? My (Canadian) manual does not mention removing the CR123s. It also does not mention removing the AA batteries.

And what in the world makes the AC adapter worth $360 (B&H price)?

Why not use a Quantum Battery 1+? I've not tried it yet, but I already own the battery and the correct cable.

BTW, when you insert the ac adapter, it has a mechanical discconect from the AA's. So, if you plug the AC adapter into the camera and not the wall, the camera will not work. :) Just a piece of info...

On the 123's, I just bought 40 of them from Botach, just got them yesterday and after shipping and tax, they came out to $1.56US each versus 4 bucks each at a local camera store and 6 bucks a piece at the local Sav-On drug store.

I've had to clean my boss's S1 once while I was playing with it before I got my S2, and I've had to clean my S2 3 times since I got it 2 months ago. You really should use the AC Adapter....
