View Full Version : Frame Number on Images

I would like to be able to automatically include the frame number of each image on the image itself, along with, perhaps, the copyright info. Does anyone know how this may be done through Photoshop? Perhaps someone can't tell me if it can't be done.
Thanks for your thoughts.

It can be done using scripting, but not any simple way that I know. Scripting, unfortunately, isn't all that simple to do. I use Visual Basic, but I think it might be a tad easier with JavaScript, if you're familiar with that. The tools are provided with Photoshop. Basically, you create a script that selects a directory full of files, opens each, and then creates a text layer with the file's name as the text. You then justify it somewhere unobtrusive (lower right?) and save it.

Hi Mike,
I am assuming you want the no on the front of the pic for proofing purposes, this software will do it all for you.
Its called breezebrowser and it has proofing modes built in to the browser.
You just right click on an image and it gives you lots of options.
And its not expensive, around £30 and downloadable on the net.
If you do a search for Breeze systems you will easily find the web site.
We have been using this browser for ages, its excellent.
If you can't find the website, here is the UK address.
Breeze Systems Limited is a limited company registered in the UK
Registered Number: 2918849
VAT Reg No: 614 9515 37
Registered Office: 69 High Street, Bagshot, Surrey GU19 5UH, UK

I bought the program when I had Canon digital as it's a great conversion program but I still use it as my main browser to this day. It lets you see fuji raw but will not convert. You can still proof them I think, I still make webpages using it and there are many variables to that, too. Just an excellent program.

Thank you all for your thoughts about this problem. I think the best solution (read easiest) to try would be to download the Breezebrowser program. I shall try that first.
Still, it seems a little odd that a program of the capablities of Photoshop should not be able to perform such a simple function. Perhaps with Photoshop 9!!.
Thanks once again to you all.

But only on a smaller web size image.
Go to the menu to create a web gallery. In the options for the web gallery there is a "security" tab. Under that you can put the file name on the image and can put it in any corner and vertically or horizontically. You can pick the color etc.......
I sometimes use ACDSee to create a .exe slideshow to send to a client. This way they can not print from the slideshow. The only bad thing is ACDSee does not put a file # on the .exe slideshows. I have run a web gallery automation to put the file # on the image before making the show. Lots of steps but it works.

Thank you for your suggestion of using the web image part of PS. Regretfully my current proofs are 6x4 and the images would be too small. I have been using Breezebrowser as was suggested earlier and it has proved to be a brilliant program not just for numbering but for other things too. The problem shold go away later this year when I start using commerically produced proof books froma firm called De Pinto.
Thanks for your interest and help.
