Does anyone have any thoughts as to how it might compare with the Pantone Spyder adn Photocal/Optical ?

I don't know. It looks like the same sensor and that has proven to have QC issues in various reviews I've read. One reviewer had to go through four of the Spyder sensors to get a good one. I personally would go with the Monaco XR sensor packages or the Eye-One Display. They're priced more like the standard Colorvision package but they produced more reliable profiles without the bad hardware worries.
