This is a good challenging thread Brian, it really causes us to flex our visual muscles, and I think there is much to be learned from this subject.
I was blown away by what was achieved from JP's original fence exercise, keep it rolling everyone :righton:

perhaps not the best image to find alternative crops in , what we need is a cityscape maybe.
Serge you are dead right cobber , this alone will have me looking at shapes and composition when i get out this weekend , and i will try to find something else more suitable to post .
meanwhile keep on searching my image , i can find about 5 reasonable crops which might stand alone .

My take ! ...and don't dare ask me what I did, I played with so many things and didn't write them down while playing... All I can remember is that I "panoramized" it a bit !

Very cool Bill. It looks like one of those fancy computer games.

I liked all the inventive ways that you guys had adopted. I decided the only way make a significant difference to Brian's original was to call in the builders to dismantle the building on the right and put it back together again.
They worked overnight in the dark, so I suspect they may have mis-read the drawings :-)
Hope I have not breached planning regulations. You will be telling me it is part of our national heritage and is on the protected list :-)

nice edit Dennis , not what i had in mind , but... nice .
it's the yanks who might get upset .
this is part of the Astors ''tudor village'' at Hever castle down here in Kent , and i would assume that the Astors are still a important family in the states.

This one is a challenge, I can imagine standing there moving around and changing lenses(or zooming) until the light went and still not decided how to compose it.
Anyway, here's the easy way out with PaintShop Pro/Virtual Painter.
Cheers, Robin

A little 'simplifier', some smart blur, stretched image length, slight pinch in reverse, and some color enhancement. Gives a wider look.

Nice shot, Sandman.
I really like this shot, I don't know why, but it's a very interesting image.
Very cool! I like it a lot!

A slight crop, color adjustment and sharpening. I always use Intellisharp on scenics to separate areas to be sharpened. I think it adds dimensionality Brian as it leaves distant objects less sharpened. I guessed at the color when I made my adjustments. I'm sure they're off.

That's the one I was looking at! I like the contrast between the new one almost stuck in the mud and the old one in the same position. How long will it take for the new one to look like the old one? :help:
