Hi,

I've had my S2 for a week now and I was wondering as I was playing with changing the settings for sharpening etc. how does one tell by looking at the File Info in PS 7 what the Sharpening level or other settings are?

Is there a document somewhere that has that info?

Thanks
Trevor

Use the FinePixViewer for that matter (on the CD delivered with the S2). It gives you everything you need. I don't know whether you can see the information in photoshop.

My version of the viewer, the only one I've been able to get loaded without any errors V3.0.03E does not show that info.

In PS 7 I can tell if I used my flash, if the exposure was auto or manual etc..

Does the newer version of the viewer show this data?

I also don't want to have to use the viewer as PS does just fine.

Thanks

Trevor

There is possibly no place in the file info that the sharpness level would be displayed. Close to the end of the EXIF info in the file info in PS7, there's 9 unknown settings, most of them are 0 and one of them is 300 in my pictures. Maybe one of those is it, but probably not. Try doing to seperate pictures with two different sharpness levels and see if one of those 9 change.

Exif Viewer shows a LOT more information from the Exif information, probably twice as much info. If you haven't see this, go to: http://home.pacbell.net/michal_k/exif_v.html and check it out. It's free. And as I've said, I like this viewer best out of all the ones I've tried including Irfanview and ACDSee.

I'd suggest you search google for a exif viewer. The one that is part of Photoshop is not very up to date as to the exif tags. You can find viewers that will display all the current information in the JPGs that are shot with the S2.

I am looking at an image now and Photoshop shows me EXIF tag # and values for the tags it doesn't understand. Unfortunately those tags are the ones that most people want to know about.
EXIF tag 41985 is CustomRendered
EXIF tag 41986 is ExposureMode
EXIF tag 41987 is WhiteBalance
EXIF tag 41989 is FocalLengthIn35mmFilm
EXIF tag 41990 is SceneCaptureType
EXIF tag 41992 is Contrast
value 0 = Normal
value 1 = Soft
value 2 = Hard
EXIF tag 41993 is Saturation
value 0 = Normal
value 1 = Low
value 2 = Hard
EXIF tag 41994 is Sharpness
value 0 = Normal
value 1 = Soft
value 2 = Hard
EXIF tag 41996 is SubjectDistanceRange
