Thanks so much for setting up this web site. It is already very useful. Could we perhaps have a forum category on software, perhaps even divided between Mac and PC?

I tried to send this note via CONTACT US but the e-mail was kicked back.

Thanks.

Good idea. I'll add the two forums. Sorry it took so long to respond. I've been swamped with computer work lately. :) My ISP was down for two days also, so that is probably why the e-mail bounced.

I really like this site, and see that it has real potential.

I have some ideas for new forum topics:

Color Management: Discussions, questions, solutions, regarding color management in-camera, post-camera conversion of RAW files, camera profiles, Photoshop (or other graphic programs) image file profiles, printer and printing profiles. Etc.

Printing Forum: Discussion, questions, solutions, etc. regarding the hardware, software, consumables and papers that baffle us as we try to get the end result of our photographic endeavors on paper. What papers in what printers give good results, what should we avoid, etc.

(For the life of me, I cannot get a decent glossy photo out of my Epson 1270. I can print on matte heavy weight just fine, but all my glossy photos come out blotchy, crackled, saturated with ink, missing colors, or pale.)

Hi Tom,
Good ideas on the new forums - a bit like dpreview, but with an S2 focus? Like it.
Your 1270 problem is one I battled with for a long time. I eventually gave up completely on Epson paper - too lightweight, it wrinkled or bulged when a heavy ink dose was needed and colours faded within weeks. Having tried many papers I settled on Kodak Ultima picture paper for "best" prints and Kodak Premium for snapshots. The main drawback with these papers is that they use a lot of ink and remain sticky for a long time. Then I discovered Permajet! Log on to permajet.com for further details. They are based in the U.K. but may have a distributor in the U.S.
Best of luck,
Derek

OK, Tom. I have added your two forum suggestions to the site. The descriptions are very detailed, thanks. :) I had to trim them a little due to description length limitations.
