Thanks
I tried a different way of turning this into b&w . found it by accident just playing in C.S.
go into color match
set intensity to 0
set luminance to 200.
this turns it into a sort of mono .
then adjust the shadow/highlights to suit.
adjust midtone contrast .
and then you can leave it like it is or go into hue/sat and colorise .
then apply USM .
have fun .

As already commented, it looks timeless, could have been done in any medium at any time, which goes to prove that digital is only another tool, when used in the hands of a craftsman. Seeing is everything.

Ditto Serge, a camera is just a tool. I like the fact that this shot ISN'T unaturally sharp! Great composition and feeling.

I always get a kick out of turning a ordinary colour shot into sometrhing different in mono , this one just cried out to be transformed , sometimes i look at a 'townscape' and think , black and white only with no tint , but this needed just a touch of sepia , luckily the method of conversion that i've mentioned did it unaided .
Thank you all for your comments .
Brian.
p.s this was taken at a new country park , about 30min drive from home , allowing a 10 mile riverside walk , so i'll be back there more often in the summer.

Nice shoot indeed Brian !
That 10 mile riverside walk - is that just up one bank, or do you cross the river after 5 miles to walk 5 back ? :)
If you average anything like me, you 'll do 1-2mph - which is why my very understanding partner usually drops me off at the start of a walk, and then collects me from the other end !:D
There is something about walking alongside water, whether it be a river, canal, lake or sea... must be something to do with edges or boundaries :)

I like that !
Of course, when you're concentrating on a shot, peering into the viewfinder, it's easy to miss that dog bounding out of the water, running up to stand next to you and.... !! :)

I want to see a picture of that!
ah, but since capturing it would be difficult, I won't wait long. :D
The composition and things to look at in this one is downright fantastic. There are plenty of plank walkway bridges around here but nothing like that at the end of the view!
I also like your tone of sepia.

Nice one Brian !!! this one wouldn't certainly be as good in B&W ! ...it was *made* to be transformed in sepia !
PS. I wish I found something to shoot at, AND NOTICING that it's crying to be turn into sepia... well... I guess I haven't got YET the eye for it... *sigh* !
