The S2 manual provides a caution not to use ONLY the AA's for
a long period of time..this was not in the S1 manual. Anyone aware of any potential problems in not using the 123 batteries long term? I use NIMH AA's batteries exclusively and don't want to deal with 123 lithiums.

I spoke to Dan at Fuji repair today. First do not attach an external battery pack like Quantum...it will fry the S2 and the warranty is void.

Second. The 123's are only for the flash according to Fuji. If the power shuts down...remove the 123's and the camera will continue to function.

Thanks

Thank you. I know this. I wanted to know why they have this as a "caution" to not use the AA's ONLY for a short time.

The reference to Quantum and the S2 being incompatible was dealt with on dpreview recently. A techie from Quantum replied to the original post saying that the correct cable had not been used i.e. an XDC instead of the recommended XDC4. I had intended buying a Quantum and may still do so, but I will need some more reassurance from Quantum first.

Derek...if I were you...I would call Fuji Tech support and not Quantum.

A warranty is a terrible thing to waste.

Good luck and let us know
