I tried to look up in old posting, but could not find it. If I buy above card, what is the speed I will actually get with my S2?

Since I have seen thread that S2 does not support WA, obviously I am not going to get 40x.

I am tired of worried about my storage when shooting. I would like to make a havit of shooting RAW, but my 256 really limits to 19 pics. It is too much hassle to download pics every 19th shots.

So, I am thinking about getting a 1GB CF. I have Lexar 12x 256MB and it works well, but want a bigger size. In addition, it would be plain convinient to not worry about downloading for too often even when shooting JPG.

Thanks.

Tanka - I have this card (Lexar 40x WA) , and conducted a very un-scientific experiment - shooting RAW:

after the shot, it takes approx. 9 to 10 seconds for the RECORDING light to stop flashing
of course, with the S2 buffer, you can keep on shooting:

I took 12 shots in approx. 10 seconds before the buffer filled and I couldn't shoot again until some of the buffer emptied

I took 7 shots in aprox. 5 seconds before the buffer filled and I couldn't shoot again until some of the buffer emptied

averaged approx. 10 seconds after the buffer filled before I could take the next shot

77 shots in RAW
211 shots in JPG at 4256 setting

Thanks Bill. So, it looks like it is working like my 12x I have right now.

Thanks again.

Just ordered one today. Matching speed with Lexar I have now is not bad at all comparing to SanDisk I got from costco.

thanks.

I've recently started using a 2 gig microdrive, which gives me room for 419 images in the high fine setting. The only problem now is finding time to edit all those extra images!

John, Sounds like you are only using 1G of that 2G drive? I believe someone posted a workaround for these 2G drives so you can use the whole thing. That would keep you busy! :righton:

Nope, John is using the full 2gb.

In 4256 high JPG mode you'll get somewhere around these capacties:

512mb: 104 shots
1gb: 208 shots
2gb: 416 shots

2gb md: 419 shots (different type of memory has just slightly more space than compact flash).

My apologizes John, and Thanks Swampy for setting me straight! Must have been reading too much concerning the limits using fat 16. I know it is limited to 2G not 1G.

I have this 40X Lexar, it is my main card now and no problems at all so far. I have also used two SanDisk 512 without incident.
