There is an interesting article in this months PC-World magazine that investigates the too good to be true digicam offers, and finds out, what I already knew. Many are bait and switch, they remove all of the included accessories and then try to sell them to you at high prices, or they just take your money and run. Also many of the culprits are in Brooklyn and are several storefronts, but all one family. There is no free lunch, but they put out the money to prove it. Check it out, Dave

i wish that article had been published sooner...as i allowed myself to be sucked in by the price and the shipping terms back in December....

After trying to purchase through a vendor that told me shipping times would be weeks, i tried another through yahoo shopping, got the camera in 3 days, but there was no mention of "international model".

fortunately for me, Fuji Japan has been more than wonderful during all this, as the S2 i received was also on the recall list - for japan! I contacted them, explained the situation, and they handled it extremely quick, and i recieved a new S2 last week.

Thanks Fuji!

I have found that local service is well worth any additional price. When you need to deal with equipment problems a friend in your corner is the best way to go. They can pick up the phone and call a company rep that can make repair/replacement decisions on the spot. They can also provide loaners if you are in a bind. I wouldn't trade my local dealers for anything.
