There is nothing better than capturing a subject’s personality in a photograph. We use to call these "Essential Portraits". They are dynamic and emotional, and really draw the viewer into the action conveyed by the photograph.

Cute baby!
What's the lighting source here? It looks like electronic flash but the flash distribution looks a little unusual. Also, I wonder if ithe general exposure would be improved with a longer shutter time to bring up the overall ambient illumination?

Matt

Just electronic flash.
The background was a window.

OK! well, depending on your shooting mode, when used with the flash the shutter may be defaulting to 1/125 of a second, which is really too fast for most indoor photography, otherwise you wind up with the "coal-miner helmet" illumination, where the subject and background are really not getting anywhere near the same exposure.
There are a couple things you can do, singly or in combination:
1) If it is an shoe-mounted flash, redirect it to bounce it off the ceiling or wall. This will diffiuse the flash quite a bit over a larger area and give a more natural effect.
2) Increase the ISO to capture more ambient light relative to the flash component of the exposure. Heck, try it with no flash at all, with the lens wide open at ISO800 and see what your exposure will be.
3) Drag the shutter some, by turning slow sync on and playing with the flash and exposure compensation controls to get a well balanced photograph.
4) bringing up the ambient lighting level (not frequently an option)
5) Faster lens or wider aperture on existing lens (ditto above)
6) Off camera flash
I've attached here an example taken in a bathroom using on camera flash, but dragging the shutter to pull in light from a couple of overhead lamps. This is not S2Pro, just to demonstrate what bringing up the ambient level relative to the flash can do.
This was Oly E-10 taken with the lens wide open at ISO160 You'd probably get similar results with S2Pro at ISO400, F/4 with an exposure of 1/30 or so

Thank you Matt. Yours consult will be very precious.
In this picture however I didn't want to show the details of the bathroom but only a first plain of my baby.
The moment runs away if I remain to think varied solutions.
Thanks and Regards.
