View Full Version : Converting Manual Lenses for TTL Metering with the S2

I recently had my older 15mm f3.5, 200mm f2, 300mm f2.8 and 800mm f5.6 Nikkor manual focusing lenses "chipped or CPU'd" to be used with through-the-lens metering with the S2. This includes matrix, shutter and aperature priority as well as manual, all use the camera's main and sub-command dials to set aperature and shutter speed. The 200, 300 & 800 can also be used in these modes when linked to Nikon AF-S Teleconverters (with mount tab filed off). This is a very slick way to bring older Nikkor lenses into the 21st century. Shazam! I now have a wonderful and very sharp 22mm wide angle along with a 300mm, 450mm and 1200mm (1680mm w/1.4 AFS converter) all offering through the lens matrix metering.
If anyone would like information on this conversion, I'll be happy to supply the name of the guy that offers this service.

Of course. Post the link to his website. I have some links somewhere but I have too many and too-old links.
Was it this Rolland Elliott?

Memobug:
I really just posted this as a tip for newer S2 users/members that might not know of this service. Many I'm sure, like you and me, are already aware of the process. I had previously used it on several lenses just to get matrix metering on an F5. But as you know, few of the older (non "P") lenses offer any metering at all on the N80/S2 chassis.
Yes, the person who performs this conversion is indeed Rolland Elliott of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Cost is $80 per lens (parts & labor), shipping is additional.
In my experience allow a minimum of 30 days for turnaround.
Although this is definitely NOT a beautiful web site, if you dig around, all of the information is here.
