I'm a photogrpaher in Dallas and I had a booth at the bridal show this past weekend. A fuji rep came by my booth and told me about the upcoming S3. He said it was coming out in about nine months and would be capible of a 80x100 inch print, apx. 20 megapixels. I've emailed fuji about more information, but I've gotten no responce

Is that real megapixels, or interpolated?

I can't blame the marketing person for trying to stir up hype, but I don't think Fujifilm is going to break a press release on you in writing 9 months before the tentative release.

Did the rep mention if this new "S3" had a full frame sensor? It would be nice if my 17mm lens was really 17mm...

Cheers

Maybe it's connected, but Fuji have developed a 4th Generation CCD - apparently capable of holding more detail in shadow and highlight areas, by making it a 2-layer CCD delivering 4 times the dynamic range of previous versions.
Sounds great!

I heard that Fuji were going to bring out the S3 in 2004, and it would have a 6.1 MP sensor and the 1.5 crop it has now, but this sensor will have a wider range of Iso's and a dynamic range to rival any film. This information is from a 'reliable source' and although I wouldn't discredit this information or the info posted here I would think that unless you are in the R&D department at Fuji you just guessing.
If you look at a Nikon DSLR forum you will find far more interesting speculation as to Nikon's response to Canon's 1Ds, again its just guessing, its only to be expected so close to PMA.
I for one am very happy with my S2, and don't think I will be buying a new DSLR until the market calms down a bit.

Just my two cents
