Can (in camera) Dbl Exposures be done with the s2?

Yes. I forget where the setting is (maybe under the ISO dial?). If you don't currently own the S2 yet, I think there is a site that has the manual online. Maybe do a goggle search.

Yes, it's the top left knob where you set single shot, multiple shot, timer, then multi-exposure. There's also another CSM setting that dictates what happens when you take the second+ exposure(s).

I haven't tried it with the S2 (did it with the S1 a couple of times playing, but it's different between the 1 and 2) and don't know exactly how to do it, but, as mentioned above, it's clearly stated in the manual on how to do it.

So, check the manual if you have an S2 and there's a link somewhere here to a nice PDF version of the manual or add this as yet another plus to buying this camera on your list. :)

Thanks. No I haven't made the plunge yet. I am just tring to make sure it will handle my shooting needs.

If anyone can hit us with a sample of one please do.
I shoot about 600 seniors a year and the dbl exp. is a requirement.

Ok, I did a screwy one since I never did one with my S2. I set it for double, took a picture of my mountain bikes that are flipped upside down on thier handle bars and seats, on the back screen it had some options of "finish", "Keep", "trash" and one other. If I hit finish, that's the end of the "exposure". If I hit Keep, I could take another picture and it would display both pic's overlayed together. Again, I could hit finish or keep (and shoot a third+) or trash the second one and shoot again to go with the first. The second shot, I took a picture of this forum on my 22" monitor with the flash by mistake, but what the heck, it was a test. Here it is sized down to 1024x7xx with no modifications otherwise.

Wicked but .....
I would have done it in PS7.

It never occurred to me that with a digital image I would do it in camera.

Here's a shot I did while I played around w/ Dub-x

First shot purposely out of focus to cause the X-mas lights flares as circles (taking on the shape of the aperture). Then, second shot in focus for the overlay.

Both methods, PS7 or in-camera, has its use. It comes down to personal preference.

You ought to try it in-camera though; if anything, it's fun :p

Nice feature on film camera's but with digital, while it seems like a fun thing to play with, wouldn't it be more flexible to take multiple separate exposures and merge them later in something like Photoshop (with Layers)?

Jim,
I agreed w/ you about combining images in PS since there's more range to play w/ of the two images. As for in camera Dubl-x, it just a fun thing I did and see how that feature works. Well, it works
