hi all - i'm out of the lurking mode - new here!
i've been browsing this forum and a couple of others since acquiring my S2 in mid-december. There was an article listed somewhere regarding "grey" market cameras - I think I have one - my manual was a photocopy, the original being written in Japanese - and today, browsing another forum, stumbled across another website that listed serial numbers affected with the power supply issue - ERR. My camera is listed on that list - under Fuji Japan.
Can my luck get any worse? Do you think Fuji USA should be able to help in this situation?
thanks and regards

Welcome to this forum! This is a great place as well. Obviously not quite as much traffic as dpreview, but great people with a lot of knowledge here. You'll also see a fair amount of members on both forums.
Now to your issue. Unfortunately, I don't think Fuji USA will help you out with this. Usually these companies won't touch grey market items no matter what. Couple of questions for you:
1. Who did you buy the camera from?
2. Were you aware that you were buying a grey market item? I'm assuming no based on your post.
3. When did you buy the camera?
If the company you bought the camera from is reputable, then they should have a 1 year warranty through their company and should take your camera and ship it to Japan for you.
If you weren't aware that you were buying a gret market item, and the site didn't say so either, then you can demand that they take the camera back since you weren't made aware of what you are buying. If the company refuses, you can call your credit card company and report a fraudulant charge, and the credit card company will be able to open a case and most likely get your money back.
Hope this helps.
Take care,
Teski

i had planned on phoning fuji today, but received a reply early this morning from fuji japan. they are looking into the matter, and will contact fuji usa on my behalf to see what they can do for me.
this is much more than i expected..so i'm very happy as far as their response goes.
regarding the recall- they suggested always having one set of batteries in the camera with some charge in them - in other words, never let both sets of batteries die at the same time...
so the saga will continue - i'm forwarding all purchase information to them today, including the yahoo shopping website i purchased from - as well as giving those people a call today as well.
thanks - jsg
