View Full Version : Anyone using PC lenses?

I sold my old 35mm f2.8 PC Nikkor lens when I got the S2. Although it worked on previous film and digital cameras, it was too old to work on the new camera. Probably had to do with the electrical contacts.
I do sometimes have a need (and even a desire) for a shift lens in the 28mm or 35mm size. I am used to manual metering with this lens so that is not an issue. Is anyone out there using a PC lens with their S2 and if so what? Any problems or issues?
Many thanks.

Assuming you just want to correct converging verticals, can you not do this in Photoshop (or even Elements)?

Photoshop is what I am using now to correct verticals and that's ok for one offs. But when you are shooting a lot of frames, it is laborious. A PC lens is a great thing to have for buildings and interiors but also for basic product photography where you may need to be above the product but want your verticals straight. Also the PC lens does the job better than PS, where you are really distorting the photograph in order to "correct" it.

I know it's been a while since you asked... I was recently researching the topic...
The below is the B&H link (in stock) of a Schneider 28mm shift lense. If I'm not mistaken Zoerk.com will adapt the below Schneider with a tilt also for a total of $1800.
I have not used either one.
I'm not sure if it will clear the mirror on the S2 straight from Schneider or not, but I do know that Zoerk is sensitive to that clearance factor for their mount conversions & other products.

You might want to also look around, as I saw someone that did mount conversions... & while I remember they had conversions from nikkor to canon they did not list from canon to nikkor???

Thanks for the tip, this is one lens that I was unaware of. I'll have to look further to see if it can work with the S2. I tried to get someone to adapt the old 35mmPC I had, but the construction of the lens did not allow for that.
