I've finally started shooting 12mg RAW so- once I back up a shoot to powerbook HD- is there a simple? way to burn imbedded jpg's to cd- to give to client/model for selecting shots she wants edited/printed. What are others doing with this_kind of scenario?
Been shooting beginning models TFP- and I want to continue to supply an easy to view record of all images shot in a session. Any suggestions -options I've overlooked- ( typically around 200 images)

Have you tried the EXIF extractor that comes with the RAW converter? You drag all your raw files to it and it will extract the embedded JPGs all at once.

Andre, How do you get to the JPG extractor ?
Which FujiPix Viewer screen (or elsewhere) is it located ?

Hi everybody
Although been watching this forum for a long time this is my first post.
HenryC try ACDSee 5. or 6, it extracts the embedded jpeg files to 1440x960 pixel files

Henry,
I do the same thing and I'm happy to be able to use the EXIF Extractor again. It's located in your FinePixViewer folder under Extentions>Helpers. If it is not there then go to http://home.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/index.html and download the latest version.

Mine is here:
"C:\Program Files\FinePixViewer\EXTENSIONS\HELPERS\RAFCNVE.EXE"

Well- thanx all for the replies. BTW- I'm using PS8 (CS)
Is the concensus that there are better methods of conversion- to TIFF- than
photoshop. Did my first shoot in Raw mode last week- no opinion just yet-
about PS8 & Raw- sure great to be able to work in 16bit mode though. & Adobe conversion interface seems pretty intuitive. Right now I just gotta get all jpg's assembled & burned to CD for model.

From what I've seen, Photoshop CS works just fine for RAW files.

Did you find the extractor?

As far as I know, ACDSee isn't available for the Mac OS.

So if you are using a Mac, I'd recomend Crabby's approach.

Andre, thanks for the link. That file is the Fuji RAW EX converter file. I thought tha you had a way of extracting the JPG that is actually inside the RAF.

If you peek inside the RAF file with some of the 'cunning' hex editors you will find that there is a JPG inside the RAF, I was hoping that there was a little utility that extracted it out directly.

Jonathan,
There is a little app called EXIF Extractor, at least that's what it's called on a Mac. On a PC it's probably called something like zxegyttymp.exe. It does exactly what you want. Why Fuji didn't call it Jpeg Extractor I'll never know. It wasn't part of the original Hyper-utility software. They came out with it in the first upgrade. So if you never upgraded go get it at my link above. It's very handy and quick. The latest mac upgrade also has a button linked to it in the (notso)FinePix Viewer.

For the Mac gang I use iView to make quick catalogs contact sheet or web galleries. It reads the embedded Jpegs quite quickly and easy to use.

Thanx again for all suggestions. Yeah I use a mac. Been too busy to try it (extraction) yet- but now I've 2 shoots that require sample CD's I promised models. Gonna give it a try tomorrow.
Haven't really been using Fuji software- with jpg images -just copy card files to hard disk- and burn CD from that folder. Now with PS-CS - I GOTTA shoot 16bit images- and learn 'nuther trick or 2.

Jonathan, that link is for the extractor - it's a separate program. My executables are:

RAFCNVE.EXE - the extractor
RAFCNVLE.EXE - RAW Converter LE
RAFCNV.EXE - RAW Converter EX

Check yours again! It is exactly what you are looking for.

Hi Andre,

I have the exact same problem as Jonathan. it may be the version of the software that we are using. My CD is version 3.1 and the the only files under C:\Program Files\FinePixViewer\EXTENSIONS\HELPERS are
fpvcdbk.exe FinePix CD Album Maker Ver.3.1
RAFCNVLE.EXE RAW FILE CONVERTER LE

I have sent an email to Fuji Canada asking for an explanation and will let you know as soon as I know something

Eddie

I think it was included as part of the Raw Converter EX update package.

Andre, Eddie, Thanks for confirming that I am not going completely mad.

I will look for the FinePix Update and see if that installs the file.

Andre,
Found it.
It is in the update program that adds 1/6 stops increments to the EX processing.

Thanks

Good.
Great little program, isn't it. I keep a shortcut to it in my Links bar at the top of all folder windows. You can drag multiple RAF files to it and convert them all at once.

Yes, it is truly a wicked little 'extra' for thoise with HyperUtility.

Fuji could release it as an alternative to the LE version or as part of the standard LE release.

Thanks again.
