Hello to all,
I was using a 256mb Sans Disk compact flash card on my job yesterday. At the shoot, I periodically check my pictures. All was well. I am trying to download/view the pictures today on my sytem, but to no avail. Under the properties, there is 236mb being used but there is nothing there. I tried to view the pics back in the camera and it says that there is no images. I am trying Photorecovery and the images that are showing up are jumbled. Anything that I could do? Also, why did this happen. Thank all in adavnce with your replies.
Sincerely,
Angelo Caruso

Be sure to test your camera with a different card to eliminate it as a suspect. Then if Photo Revcovery cannot get the pictures you probably have a corrupt card. It could be caused by software or hardware. Try to reformat the card with the camera or the computer. If that fixes the problem then you should be OK. This has happened to us several times and a new format usually does the trick. If this works then be sure to test the card by filling it up and downloading the pictures to be sure that it is not a hardware problem. Record TIFF files and you will fill up the card quicker. If it will not format with the camera or the computer then the card is bad and needs to be replaced.
Also it is a good idea to reformat the card whenever you want to clean it off. Formating will erase all the pictures and check the system files and sectors for errors. Simply erasing the files will not do. It does not check for errors and might leave your file allocation table (FAT) fragmented. I also like to format the cards in the camera so that I don't wind up with any computer specific things, like a recycle bin, on the card.

Hello,
Sorry about the panic. First time. I tried three different image recovery programs and the one that worked was rescue pro by sandisk. No problems and only $40.00us. Here is a link: http://www.lc-tech.com/rescuepro.htm
Thank once again for all who viewed.

Hello,
Thanks for the reply Mr. Wayne. Intresting enough, the photo recovery program was one that I tried and didn't work but rescuepro did and they are on the same site.
Thanks,
Angelo
