View Full Version : CR123's - How Low Do You Let Them Get?

I know we've had discussions on the use of 123's, however, I can't find any reference to this:
I like to be proactive on the replacement of the batteries (NiMH AA no problem obviously), but the 123's can be a problem if they run low ... so, I measure the voltage 'every so often' (depending on the type of shooting I'm doing) .... is there a guideline/recommendation as to what voltage to replace? The pair I have in now measure 2.9 after quite a bit of shooting.... Does anyone measure your voltages and replace batteries when they drop to a certain level? If so, what's your recommendation..
Thanks,
Bill

I let 'em in till their dead. I measured a pair of dead ones and they read 2.65 each.

Unfortunatly, Lithiums are hard to gauge like that. Thier properties are to give pretty much full power across thier lifespan then just flop and die.

I moved the thread by the way. :)

Thanks for the response....depending on what I'm shooting, perhaps I'll let the next set run out...measure them....then at least have a guideline for when to change them....perhaps I'm a bit 'gunshy' from some of the stories I've read about some of the problems that can occur if the batteries run out mid-shot.
Thanks,
Bill

I drop them as soon as my CR display goes halfway. I'll take the waist of a couple of dollars over a dead circuit board/S2 any day.
