I shot a job two days and everything appeared fine - I regularly checked the back of the camera to see if eyes were open etc. I returned to the studio to download the files - the FinePix software couldn't see any files. I disconnected and checked the back of the camera again - all 28 images still there. Tried downloading again - same result. I checked the camera a third time and the camera indicated "No Files" yet the exposure counter confirmes that 28 were taken. (I know hopw many images I get at my favorite resolution) At this point I tried my other Lexar 256K Compact Flash card and everything was ok. The card is now at a data recovery firm (GREAT service - I'll pass their name on to anyone who e-mails me) and my shots will be back to me tomorrow. The tech told me the card is fine & that I probably shot too fast - I'm not sure if this is the answer.

Has anybody had this problem or can give me an intelligent answer as to why this happened ?

You might take a look in the FAQ here for some info on DATA recovery:

What to do if the card develops problems (http://s2pro.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=204) about halfway down the page.

I have had a few glitches with digital files, but none with the S2 so far.. One reason can be power sag (with low batteries) another is switching the mode dial, powering off before the write operation is completed, or ejecting a card with the power on.
