This image was taken on December 28 at Golden Spike National Historic Site. This was the first real workout I've given the camera. I learned how small a 1 Gig microdrive is when shooting raw files.
Here's a link to a series of images from the same day at my personal website:

BJ... wonderful images, and love the colors.
So, did the S2 give you a workout?

It was an eye-opener. I took some shots with the engine stationary at my usual pace, but when it got rolling I must have gotten "buck fever". As it was completing the loop after I had been shooting the action with the 80-400 lens, I got a beep and no shot. I first thought my batteries were gone, but I had burned through a Gig. I couldn't believe I had run through 80 photos.
One the plus side, I would have missed a lot of shots if I had to change rolls or switch bodies as I would have shooting rolls of 36. On the other hand, the outing cost me an investment in the Tripper 20 Gig portable storage.
I sent the engineer a few of the best shots featuring him - 8x10 prints.
I have little 90 Meg CF card that I used to get a couple of Spiral Jetty shots. I also shot some with the Xpan, but I haven't had the roll processed yet.
I definitely bonded with the S2 that weekend.

I have the same problem because of the speed and the size of the files. I've only got 1 512mb and1 80mb CF cards and sometimes I get a little crazy with the pictures. I was used to a Sony CD Mavica with 1 shot per 7-10 seconds in jpg mode, so I never really had experience with being able to grab 7 shots in 3 1/2 seconds. I've got this fixation with a pair of humming birds in my back yard and I must have taken around 145 shots in 1 lunch hour and that was just messing around! I've been toying around with my S2 now for a few weeks and haven't had a chance to do any real shooting with it, only a new years eve party, some family things and some bird stuff. I've got 4 or so gigs worth of pictures now! I was just looking at that wondering what I'm going to do with all that stuff now. Guess I'll have to build a server just to store photo's.
