Actually not quite a test, just a shot to show how wonderful this old lens is! Look at the colors, sharpness and, I'd say, INTEGRITY of the image. To me they are very good.
105mm/2.5 AIS lens, SB-80DX pointed straight up, ISO 200, 1/60, f5.6, manual focus :)

Yes, Igor - very nice. Colors are wonderful (did you 'push' at all in PS?) - also, what camera settings for color/tone/sharp did you use. I've been looking at a couple of different lenses in this range (Tamron 90 for example), but I ran across a used Nikon 105 for less than $200 .... haven't decided yet (spent too much $$ lately)
Thanks for sharing

Thanks Bill.
No, there were no "pushing", just a straight downsize with a bit of USM. My regular camera settings are HIGH-STD-STD.
I bought mine 105/2.5 AIS for $150 on ebay. Also a 85/2 AIS for $80. I must say both are excellent lenses, but the 105 is a bit better still.

Thanks Serge,
Bogdan's 7 years old. The only school subject he likes to learn is English :)
Both AIS's I've bought (85/2 and 105/2.5) are just wonderful! Can't even tell which is better... Recommend to everybody!

I am a big fan of the "old" AIS primes in general.
They have something unique on them, and optically aren't worse than the newer glass Nikon sells (well, in most cases).
And the good thing is that you get them dirt cheap second hand.

Your right!
Besides when focusing manually you'll never have to blame autofocus for soft photos! :)
