I'm using PS and Micrografx Picture Publisher. I think the only reason I use PP is because I've been using it for 10+ years and am used to a lot of the features and can move around in that one faster than PS. But, when I want to get serious, I go with PS.

PP is easy croping and easy sizing and it's clone brushing is easier and faster than PS's stamp, but then again, I'm probably not seeing a feature in PS that does the same thing.

I have been a Photoshop user for eight years, and use PS 7 for business from home. At my day job (for US Navy) I have a choice of PS LE and Corel 11. Corel's use of a unique dialect makes it a pain to find functions. Sure, it supports JPEG2000, and has some other useful features, but I can't warm up to the program after so many years with PS. Fortunately for me, the Navy is buying me PS 7 now along with a Kodak DCS Pro 14n and some other goodies.

I have been a long time user- starting with Corel 3 and working through 10. I used it primarily for graphic arts though, not so much for photography.

I still do for that matter. I use Photoshop 7 for demanding photographic work because I have migrated to industry standards wherever possible for the benefit of the resume.

I also use Adobe Illustrator for graphic arts, but turn to Corel when I'm pressed for time because of my increased familiarity.

There are lots of good programs out there, it just depends on whose vernacular you want to learn!

Hi folks,

I use varous programs (Adobe, Microgafrix, Jasc, Corel). After years of experience I love the Corel Photopaint. I think that is better than Photoshop in order to retouch and adjustment photos. Maybe design there are other chioces.
It is my opinion.
Regards everybody.

Oh yeah, I use Corel PhotoPaint - in fact I am still using version 7 !!
I havent fouind anything in the later versions that does better what I want to do with it... which is basically cloning in editing my panoramas...

and running Extensis Intellihance 4.0 ...

For the web-jpg I use PaintshopPro 7 and 8 for the best compression algorithms I have even experienced.... really...

I have never - but for a very brief period of my life been a Photoshopper... Sure it does stuff right as well ... but its like having your old pants... you know where the pockets are...
and new versions always carries MORE POckets fileld with stuff that I really question the value of.... for my part... :-)

I havent tried Photopaint version 11, but I have a slight hunch that I maybe should... with Corel it seems like it has always been the Odd-numbered versions that were really good...

But 7 does what is should for me... :-)

- and - I am always afraid of the Photoshopper Tyranny that tells me that whatever I do is not good enough because it wasnt photoshopped... :-)
Glad that someone brings good ol Photopaint up to the surface.
It IS a VERY good software.

Hi Gurrah,

I would recommend you If there is possible to obtain a recent version from Photo Paint. From 7 to 9 there are good differences. By the way, from one version to up one the differences are minus. The 9-10 versions for Corel are very good. In the 11th version Corel erased some plugings from the Procreate company (I am talking about Julia Set Explorer, SQUIZ...). Now this company are bougth by Corel. But as plugins, they can traslate to the new version.

Jasc Paint Shop Pro is a good program also, yes.
Regards.
