Of course we can all dream. I'd like to see a reasonably priced S3 (the S2 is), that's no dream. Speed? Yes. I'd like 16 frames per second, but, reasonbly priced? No.
Realistically, I’d like to see 5fps minimum. Of course higher resolution. How about 14 true megapixel, or even 12 for that matter. 12 interpolating to 16 extremely well? Batteries… I wouldn’t mind getting rid of the 123’s all together. Cheaper and easier to use 40 sets of AA’s. :) Although, they might want to copy Sony with their lithium technology, or move to a newer battery technology all together from that.
Video clips? Not a big thing on my list. I’m paying for an extremely well done STILL camera. You start combining products and the camera side will degrade. I have a real nice DV camera that does great video’s and it’s smaller than my S2.
Wireless remote. YES. Better control with software (which should be able to be done with the S2 now).
One cool idea would be to have a wireless module to plug into the firewire or other connection on the camera to be used with a computer of your choice to control the camera. In addition to this feature it should be able to transmit the current view to the PC so you can see what you’re shooting from the camera. Of course, the wireless should be 802.11g, or 802.11b/g, but not just 802.11b. Of course, if they just base the S3 off of the F5 body with all that functionality and the extra digital stuff above, I’d probably be happy.
Then again, maybe I’m not talking about the next S3, but the next D2h/x. :)
Never have opened the book to figure out how the voice recording works. Maybe I'll do that today and kill time at work. :P

Lower power consumption
Mag/Alum chassis
ISO 3200 & 6400
Bigger histogram
TTL at higher ISO
Better LCD consistency
Meaningful error messages
Matching color LCD backlights

I'd like to see:
12+mp before interpolation
Vertical shutter release
Auto-sensing vertical/horizontal, with image rotation (like 14n)
Ruggedized body
Pro-level shutter (100k+ releases)
ASA 3200/6400
Bluetooth
Improved dynamic range
No "track-noise"
DUST PROTECTION! :)

What you guys are asking for sounds more like a "Kodak".

I hope so. :D Unfortunately, the 14n ISO range is more limited than S2, the shutter sync is the same (same shutter), and you can't mount the 85mm perspective lens because of an obstruction with the 14N body, so it falls down in my "main improvements" categories.
If the price were in the S2 ballpark, I'd certainly look at it!

I have been reading about the F90 after I finished reading about the F80. And I have to ask, why isn't the S2 based on the F90? Maybe there will be an S3 to answer this question.

Isn't the N90 long since discontinued? I was under the impression that the N80 was basically a replacement/upgrade for the N70 and the F100 was the replacement/upgrade for the N90.

N90& N70 is discontinued ,N80 & N65 are new on market,I wish
they built S3 on f100...but i guess Nikon don't want to sell to
Fuji because competition market...&...keep $$$ low...???.I don' think S3 come out until 2004 or 2005 may be?.

I think it's ok where it is, personally...only because of the price point. I'm not sure I would have wanted to pay $3000 plus for an S2 that was based on the F100. They had to compete with the D100 and D60. I think they actually took a hit when the D100 and D60 came in at $2000. I believe Fuji wanted to charge more for the S2 than they did.
