Faulty CCD?

Could the lines that I am getting on my images be a faulty CCD or the result of 1600 iso? any help would be wonderful.

Jeff,

Very strange lines.

Has this happend since new? Does it happen at all ISOs? Does it happen with RAW files converted later in the computer using RAW File Converter? Does it only happen with jpg compression? Are you shooting full size? or at a smaller pixel count?

I lightly suspect jpg compression of smaller file sizes.

I would try to nail down the conditions it happens in, and when it doesn't. If you look at your ISO 100 images, do you notice the lines? (you may have to enlarge the image a lot, or shoot just the right kind of subject to notice it.)

Depending on the results from shooting with different settings, somebody may be able to tell if it is a sensor fault or a limitation of jpg/file size/etc.

Now that I'm here. I was taking some test pictures of the moon just a few ago and I was viewing the pictures with ACDSee and the last picture I took showed similar lines. I looked for this post, found it, saw this problem, then went back to my problem. I enlarged it in ACDSee and it went away. I went back to normal view, even reloaded the picture and it wouldn't come back. Tried and tried and I can't get those lines back.

Anyway, I changed lenses because a friend and I saw 3 very huge raccoons run across the street and I was going to try out this other lens that I JUST got. Walked around a bit, couldn't find the racoons, came back and was going to do some test shots inside the house and the battery error came on in the middle of auto focusing.

Long story, eh? Anyway, thought that it may be a low battery problem perhaps, if this isn't happening with every shot. I was shooting in full sized TIFF mode. I'm going to try and get the problem to happen again though.

These lines seem to show up whether I am shooting in Raw or Jpeg. However I can only find the lines in 1600 ISO. Perhaps this is a good time to send the camera in and they can also realign the focus that seems just a little off.

oh yes I am shooting the full pixel count and as far as I can tell this has been there but unnotticed since new.
